Welcome,
I’m Jim your host and beer enthusiast. I'm enjoying a pale ale from my daughters brewpub in Moreno Valley, CA, PH Woods.I developed this website not for my love of beer, but for my love of a vast variety of beers. When I first joined the US Army at the tender age of 18, my first duty station was in the heart of Bavaria, Nuremberg Germany. After nearly two years of drinking vast amounts of all kinds of German beers (during that time I think I drank maybe 5 American beers), I fell in love with German beer of all kinds and varieties. Not only did I fall in love with German beer, I also fell in love with the country and its people. Looking at the prospect of returning back to the states in the 70’s with very limited varieties of beer (and not very good beer in my opinion) and my mother being German, I contemplated not going back and staying with my grandparents in a little town close to Dortmund. Even their little town of less than 5,000 had its own brewery.
After a just few short years back in the states, microbreweries in the US started to appear. I remember drinking my first Samuel Adams Boston Lager and the sheer joy of finally finding a decent tasting beer in the US. Soon varieties of beer in the US were more the norm than the exception. Today, as we all know, there are literally thousand of microbreweries and beer pubs that brew their own beer in the US. Almost equally as my love for beer is eating foods that go with a great beer. Look around our website, you’ll also find other things that beer enthusiasts like with a great beer like beer reviews, beer travels, draft beer accessories, BBQ recipes, home brew kits and much much more. Prost!
